MUTARS® Distal Femur & GenuX® MK
Modular megaprosthesis for the distal femur with a rotating-hinge knee joint (GenuX® MK) — in tumors with major bone loss at the knee.
MUTARS® Distal Femur provides distal femoral reconstruction with replacement of the knee joint by a rotating-hinge prosthesis. It is combined with the modular GenuX® MK (Modular Knee) system, introduced in 2013, which offers an intraoperative choice between mobile-bearing and fixed-bearing polyethylene inserts.
The biomechanically optimized GenuX® MK coupling allows flexion of up to 130°. To simplify the system, the same stems are used for both the femur and the tibia, together with offset adapters offering 360° of rotational freedom. In tumor treatment, the GenuX® MK components are fully compatible with the standard MUTARS® products.
The system offers four femoral component sizes and four tibial component sizes, cemented and uncemented stems (in four lengths and nine diameters), dedicated augments and spacers — more than 150 possible combinations to tailor treatment to each case. For more extensive bone loss, EPORE® metaphyseal cones and components (porous titanium, for osseointegration) are available.
